Devil’s Glen Provincial Park

Every fall my friend Maddy and I take a hike together to see the colourful leaves. She follows the colour map that Ontario Parks posts to help us pick the ideal time and park!

Full disclosure, the majority of this hike was not actually through the Provincial Park but on the Bruce Trail that goes around the Devil’s Glen Country Club. We did park at the Provincial Park and started at the lookout point that looks out at the country club’s ski hills before hiking down to what seemed to be a parking lot for the country club. What we were NOT expecting was for the Bruce Trail hike to then be UP A SKI HILL at the country club!! This part of the hike was very challenging but the view from the top of the hill was beautiful and the rest of the hike was super smooth and beautiful with all the colourful leaves. It did end on another challenging note when we had to hike back up through the Provincial Park to get to the parking lot but overall the hike felt great and it was nice to be on a real hike not just a walk.

We both wear the same Fitbit watch and from those our Strava told us that we had walked different distances as well as different elevations but the average between the two was that this was approximately a 10km hike with a 300m elevation gain and it took us approximately 2 hours 15 minutes, including our stops to take some pictures! There was a hiking event happening at the country club the day that we went (total coincidence we had no idea haha) and the two women directing the people and parking told Maddy and I that we were speedy hikers which was very flattering. They also noticed how much we were sweating (LOL) so we did put in some solid effort on this hike.

I totally recommend this hike, just be prepared for up hill and bring a water bottle!

Cheers!

I’m Katie

I’m so glad you’re here! What I really hope for with this blog is a creative outlet for myself. Whenever I feel myself getting into a rut with school I try to get creative in the kitchen, get crafting, or get reading and it usually gets me back on track. I also love camping and trying new things so this will be a real mishmash of my life!
